BEAUTY IS MORE THAN SKIN DEEP
You don’t have to be movie star gorgeous to appear more attractive. Regardless of genetics, there are things you can do to appear more appealing to others.
Why would you want to do this? Research has proven time and again that attractive people can earn up to fourteen percent more money each year than their peers who are perceived as being less attractive. Yes, some of this is due to your physical appearance. But knowing how to carry yourself and express yourself has more of an impact than you may think.
First, always stand tall and keep your chin up. This is seen as being confident and assertive, even when you may not feel like it. It also physically changes the way your jaw and neck appear; it is slimming and minimizes the look of a double chin. Practice in front of a mirror. It won’t lie.
You know those folks who wear sunglasses, even inside an airport? Some of them do it because they know it adds an aura of mystery to them. As humans, we like to be able to look at a person’s eyes, and when they are hidden from us, we become curious. It gives the appearance of being glamorous, and it also adds symmetry to the face.
Are you an adrenaline junkie? No? You might want to consider doing something that gets your adrenaline flowing. It can be something as simple as watching a scary movie, or going on a wild roller coaster ride at an amusement park. Adrenaline works as a natural aphrodisiac, and has an oddly calming effect on our nerves. The next time you go on a date, or are expecting an uncomfortable meeting or confrontation, do something that gets you out of a lethargic state. You will appear more alive and vibrant, as a result, much more attractive.
Reconsider how much perfume or cologne you wear. A very slight scent can be appealing and make the other person sit up and take notice. But overdoing the fragrance is a huge turn-off.
Practice your smile. A great smile is one of the first things people notice. Keeping your teeth clean and healthy is an obvious step. Practicing a natural smile in the mirror is another one. Look at those snapshots your friends and family post of you. If you don’t like the way you appear, practice. Television professionals spend a fair amount of time practicing their smile so that it appears natural on camera.
Red lipstick is an attention-grabbing technique and has been scientifically proven to work. A study done at Manchester University demonstrated that men stare at a woman’s lips for seven seconds when she is wearing red lipstick. They spend less than a second looking at eyes and hair.
Learn how to get along in a group. In something known as the “cheerleader effect” a study at the University of California San Diego had participants rate the attractiveness of people alone and in a group. Both men and women were rated as more attractive when they were in a group.
So, it’s not just about how you look physically that makes you appear more attractive. It is also about how you present yourself. Put your best foot forward!
